The Path

The Forest Home Walkway before it was rebuilt in 2022 (Caroline Arms, 2018)

The Path by Martha Warren Hertel, 1979.

This is the story of the early years of the Forest Home Walkway, the footpath that goes sharply uphill from opposite the downstream bridge to the brow of Warren Road.  The White Farmhouse mentioned in the text is 127 Warren Road, where she lived for much of her life.

Martha wrote this essay for her friends and neighbors and circulated it widely in the community.  It is posted here in her memory and as thanks for her family’s contribution to our neighborhood.
